My girlfriend and I went to Bulgaria for a 1 week holiday back in July.We wanted somewhere that wasn't too touristy and abit cheaper than the overpriced Sunny Beach resort .We opted for a place a 10 minute bus journey away from Sunny Beach called Sveti Vlas (St Vlas),a littile town on the coast.We stayed in the Hotel DiRossi which was fantastic and immaculate! Its a family run hotel with a great location and facilties too!The swimming pool area was brilliant with plenty of sun loungers to catch a tan and the pool was a good size too!The family that own it speak great English and were so helpful to my girlfriend and myself throughout the whole holiday! our room overlooked the the whole coast and the view was lovely whilst sipping a beer that cost around 20 pence in English! The hotel was situated a 2 minute walk from the main square in Sveti Vlas and 5-10 minutes from the sandy beach which has plenty of bars and restuarants and all are amazingly cheap compared to the corporate prices back in England! There was 1 restaurant in particular at the end of the street where our hotel was,called the bistro which serves authentic Bulgarian cusine.It is one of the best if not the best meal we have had! Very generous portions aswell.4 starters,3 mains,dessert for 2,2 bottles of Bulagrian lager and 2 glasses of Bulgarian white wine....this all came to no more than ?18 in English for the 2 of us! the lady who owned the restaurant managed it and the husband is a fisherman,so what he caught that day was prepared for the menu that evening,fantatstic!
We took a boat trip to Nessebur,which took about 40 minutes and was very resonably priced.Highly reccomend a visit there,alot of history to the place with great ancient sites too!
If you decide on visiting Bulgaria and want something with local culture that has pretty much everything you need in a holiday then St Vlas is ideal for families and young couples like us.
Liked — very well priced,great location and fantastic staff.
Disliked — there is nothing we didnt like.
